BOSKO 2007-12-26 09:58:37
bosko & honey hope you all had a MERRY CHRISTMAS, and wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR!
here's a song we feel embodies our optimism for the future...

BOSKO 2007-11-20 01:06:08
sorry it's been such a long time since our last youtube offering...
here's one that's a little different from our usual fare, a fingerpickin' ditty:
"BLACK MOUNTAIN BREAKDOWN"... it's still in need of practice!
can you see how hard we're concentrating?

BOSKO 2007-10-26 15:27:13
well that was interesting...
2 weeks without the internet and there's a lot of time in the day... let's hope we don't have to go through that again in a hurry!
BOSKO 2007-10-07 19:50:47
b&h are in the process of moving at the moment... looks like we may be OFF-LINE for a while from WEDNESDAY the 10th!
we'll still be checking in, but not as often until this SCARY SCENARIO is remedied!
this is what our lounge-room looks like now...
it's a bit poignant... this is where we learnt to play the ukulele, and the scene of many a love-in...
BOSKO 2007-10-05 23:46:08
more SAFARI news, as B&H are excited to say they'll be going to Groß-Umstadt, GERMANY in 2008 for the second EUROPEAN UKULELE FESTIVAL on the weekend of the 23rd/24th of AUGUST... ahhh summertime....
RIGK SAUER of RISA is organizing what is shaping up to be a premier event...
BOSKO 2007-10-05 23:37:31
B&H are extremely pleased to announce they will be joining RAY SHAKESHAFT and the rest of the UK uke-crew on the weekend of the 25th/26th of JULY 2008, for ukulele fun at the RUN COTTAGE TOURING PARK in Hollesley, Suffolk, UK...

BOSKO 2007-09-29 16:58:23
MICHAEL DaSILVA has begun work on a custom thin-bodied tenor for honey... he's been experimenting with these for a while, and feels a spruce top version would be a perfect match for honey and the love-in sound in general...
we're looking forward to san francisco even more!
BOSKO 2007-09-23 08:48:08
B&H will be attending and performing at the 3rd annual NY UKEFEST next year...
it will run from the 3rd until the 6th of APRIL at the THEATER FOR THE NEW CITY
B&H will be on their UKULELE SAFARI 2008 at that stage, so they look forward to doing a few interviews with some of the many wonderful performers and attendees...

here's some pics of B&H having a few days off, playing tourist in their own "backyard"
BOSKO 2007-08-01 17:35:14
it must be the season for migrating ukulele players... within 2 days B&H had 2 visits... one from a performer, and one from an enthusiast...

both were carrying a beautiful uke or two each...

our first visitor was BILL, who is from PERTH in WESTERN AUSTRALIA
he's a nice bloke who's been traveling in our area on a caravan holiday...
he brought with him SCOTT WISE CONCERT CUSTOM made from solid and very thin JARRAH, or EUCALYPTUS MARGINATA...

it has that wonderful rope binding scott wise is so fond of, and an extra large body, it seemed

bosko LOVED it!
intonation and sustain are perfect all the way up the neck with nice low action and beautiful warm tone....

bill was also carrying a handsome BELTONA RESONATOR made in NEW ZEALAND...

a great bluesy tone comes from this fiberglass-bodied concert with a nicely retro pearloid veneer on the headstock...

HONEY loved it!

our next visitor was ROSE TURTLE ERTLER of course, and she stayed for 3 days

we had a fantastic old time, and B&H were very impressed by her playing and song-writing

it was ukulele school in kuranda, with tips and such being shared all round...

ROSE was on tour, and headlined at the TANKS UNPLUGGED acoustic/folk night run by the charismatic and enthusiastic RAY ELIAS, and held at the fabulous TANKS ARTS CENTER in CAIRNS

THE TANKS refers to enormous ex-oil tanks, built by the AMERICANS in WWII... they have been converted into giant performance and exhibition spaces... spectacular indeed

B&H played a few songs,
and joined ROSE for a song at the end of her set, which was great fun indeed!

ROSE'S main instrument is a beautiful 1940's GRETSCH...

a lovely little soprano with an amazi9ngly slender neck, tapering to almost nothing at the nut...
it was rescued and repaired from a secondhand shop for her by the legendary AZO BELL of THE OLD SPICE BOYS
and it's a ripper indeed... see her playing it HERE
BOSKO 2007-07-19 18:10:11
ROSE TURTLE ERTLER, the "elektric ukulele lady" will be performing at the TANKS ARTS CENTRE on SUNDAY the 29th of JULY as part of the regular TANKS UNPLUGGED FOLK NIGHT

ROSE is on tour already from MELBOURNE through NEW SOUTH WALES and QUEENSLAND...

while in CAIRNS she'll be visiting BOSKO & HONEY in their rainforest retreat, for a bit of ukulele parlay...

BOSKO & HONEY will be performing the same night, which starts at 5.30pm

ROSE will also be playing during the weekly TANKS ART CENTRE MARKETS from 1pm on the same day...

hope to see you there...

BOSKO 2007-06-27 15:17:33

Major sponsor of Ukulele Safari Australia 2010

Michael DaSilva is a wonderful luthier and great guy based in Berkeley, California.
We met him in NY in 2007, and Bosko bought a ceder top concert - heavily discounted - from him then.
Since that time Mike has chosen to support us with instruments, and we are VERY lucky indeed!
you should definitely check out his site at

As part of the Safari we visited Mike's workshop...

our performance on saturday night was a hoot... a full house of extremely enthusiastic, warm and supportive people... what more could any performer ask for?

BOSKO & HONEY have just returned from the 2007 New York Ukulele Festival

This wonderful festival was held at the THEATRE FOR THE NEW CITY and ran from the 26th until the 29th of April
